“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.” Proverbs 3:5-8
Sometimes I think my way of doing things is the “right” way and the only way. A little fish in a big pond of many fish, or a lone dancer in a big ballet company surrounded by many talented dancers, it is easy to get lost in the crowd. It is so easy to think that my way of rehearsing, counting the music, or taking care of my body is the ONLY way. It is also tempting to follow the pack and think that since everybody else is doing it this way, it must be the right way. This can happen in the dance studio, at home raising kids or relating to our husbands, or in the workplace or at school. Jesus is who to look to. He knows the BEST way, and He knows what is right for you – and that may look different from person to person. (or dancer to dancer) So today, when you are tempted to think your way is right or you are tempted to do the popular thing and follow the crowd, check in with God. TRUST in Him and His ways instead of leaning on your own feelings, emotions, or ideas. He will guide you. He will let you know. Trust Him and anticipate great joy as you watch your Savior work on your behalf!
Prayer: “Jesus, it is so easy to trust in myself and to do everything my way. Everything in my nature wants to do it my way or to follow the crowd and not consult You for wisdom and direction. Lord, help me remember to go to You when I do not know what to do and help me be open to new ways of doing things. I surrender to You. Help me TRUST You with ALL my heart!”
