“‘Jesus answered, ‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.'” John 4:13-14
As dancers we have to stay hydrated in order to continue dancing. Just like athletes, or moms on the go, we need to keep drinking water, or we will eventually dehydrate. Moms give and give and give. Ballet dancers push and push and push, and whatever we are hydrating our bodies with will affect our effectiveness. If I were to sip on a soda ALL DAY LONG to keep me going, I may have a burst of energy from a sugar high, but eventually, my body is going to give out and crave pure, clean water. I’ll end up thirsty because that soda did not satisfy my body and carry me through the day. That soda-sipping is replacing the truest, purest source of hydration….and I am missing out on real, energizing fuel that will help me be a better mom or dancer or whatever it is.
In our lives, so often we try to fuel our very lives with replacements. We think that a certain diet, certain exercise program, certain job, certain number of kids, certain house, certain relationship…. you get the idea….will SATISFY our thirsty souls. So then we try to give more to our husbands, our kids, our students, our job….but we wind up empty, thirsty, and out of fuel and with nothing left to give. The good news that Jesus wants us to know is that we do not have to rely on other people or things to fill us up. He will do the filling up.
Jesus offers us the perfect fuel for our lives. He offers us living water – Him. His water is pure, best, and leaves us SATISFIED. Let Jesus show you what His living water can do for you. Keep hydrated, then you can overflow into the lives of others because you are properly filled.
Prayer: “Jesus, I want to know Your living water. Show me and hydrate me.”
