“He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:10-12
I think one of the most challenging things to grasp as a Christian, is that we are truly set free from our sins. The beautiful work that the Holy Spirit does in us through conviction and recognizing our sins is a process that we will go through again and again on this side of heaven. Just like when dancers are perfecting a piece for a performance, in reality, complete and utter perfection is not possible. There is always going to be a little something off, a slight bobble, but we do not give up reaching for that perfection. There is always going to be a sin in our lives that is around or that likes to resurface. It is part of the process, it is part of growing spiritually, it is part of leaning on Jesus, and it is part of being human! But in our growth process, may we remember that there is grace. May we remember that when God looks at us, because of Jesus, He does not see our sin and imperfections, He sees a clean slate. He sees purity. He sees you as forgiven, set free from sin, and He loves you more than words can possibly describe. So that sin that is hanging over your head, that you feel guilty about or bad about, or you cannot seem to conquer…..ask Him for forgiveness, trust that You are forgiven, and go keep growing in Jesus. He is bigger than your sin, and He can help you overcome it…..He can free you from your sin. This is walking with Jesus. He will keep showing you things that need pruning or shaping or changing….just like your director will keep giving you corrections along the way….we will never be perfect this side of heaven, but we can keep being attentive to His voice, allowing Him access to our hearts so that He can shape us into who He created us to be.
He does not treat us as our sins deserve ……let that sink in…..He has removed our sins as far as the east is from the west….can You sense His grace???
