“My foot is slipping, Your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, Your consolation brought joy to my soul.” Psalm 94:18-19
“for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care.” Psalm 95:7
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified….for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
I always find it fascinating when I learn a little tidbit about someone else’s world….the world of golf, the world of making movies, the world of….. you fill in the blank. To outsiders, these different worlds are hard to fathom or really even understand. The ballet world is a unique world. Becoming a professional ballet dancer is this concoction of trying to figure how to navigate the newness of it all, enjoying the feeling of feeling so alive when dancing, battling pressures and expectations, and at the same time, it can feel like no one from your “real” life really understands what you are going through or dealing with. We can feel the same thing in our other worlds. The world of motherhood for example…. finding others who are walking through the same thing build us up and lets us know we are not alone in this. Whether you are in a new city, a new ballet company, a new school, or a new season of life, REMEMBER that there is ONE who truly knows where you are at…..who you are…..and EXACTLY what you are going through. I love the Message version of Psalm 94:18-19 :
“The minute I said, ‘I’m slipping, I’m falling,’ Your love, God, took hold and held me fast. When I was upset and beside myself, You calmed me down and cheered me up.”
He consoles us….He alleviates or lessens our grief, sorrow, or disappointment. He comforts us.
Your Love Oh Lord by Third Day
“Your love, oh Lord
Reaches to the heavens
And Your faithfulness
Stretches to the skies
And Your righteousness
Is like the mighty mountains
Your justice flows like the ocean’s tide
And I will lift my voice
To worship You, my King
And I will find my strength
In the shadow of Your wings…”
So when you feel like no one gets it, when you feel like no one notices all the work you are putting into something, or when you feel like no one can really relate to your daily challenges or struggles, remember that He gets it, He gets you, He notices you, He knows exactly what you are going through.
Prayer: “Amazing Lord, thank You that You know my world. You know every part of me, every detail of my day, and all that I am doing. Help me remember that you get me, You notice me, and You know exactly what pressures and expectations I am dealing with.”
