“God is within her, she will not fall, God will help her at break of day.” Psalm 46:5
As you go about your day today, remember that the God of the universe, of this huge, big world is pursuing your heart. He is after your heart because He loves you so much. He has your best interest in mind. He wants to capture your heart so that you can have the confidence and enthusiasm about your day that He intends for you to have.
Today, remember that He lives inside you….He dwells in you, helping you, guiding you, strengthening you. He is always with you. He will not let you fall.
I love how today’s verse says, “God will help you at break of day….” As soon as your day starts, He is actively helping you. So whether your day starts at five in the morning feeding a newborn baby, at seven or eight….whenever….BOOM!….He’s right there waiting for you.
How do we plug into Him? I think about my sweet boys who are always playing superheros….I literally hear them say things like, “Activate creature powers or activate lightening powers!” (add in a few action figure sound effects and you can get the idea)…..we can activate God’s power in our lives or invite Him to work in our lives by letting Him capture us. How do we do that? Invite Him in. Start the day with prayer. (weary-eyed moms who have been up all night, I know this is easier said than done!) Even a short prayer. Keep the conversation going throughout the day. Ask Him questions like, “Lord, how should I handle this?” “Lord, what should I do here?” This ebb and flow of conversation with the Father is like a dance. He leads, we follow, and there becomes this beautiful synchronization of living. But you may ask, “Sometimes I don’t feel close to God…I can’t feel His presence.” That is a perfectly good question! James 4:7 says, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” This beautiful dance with God cannot happen unless we stand up and take His hand….move towards Him….maybe for you that means praying throughout your day, maybe it means memorizing a verse today, maybe it means just sitting in a comfy chair and thinking about Him. I recently read that the most important thing our children need from us is not training and correcting, but our company. I can’t help but relate that to our relationship with Christ. Yes we need training in godliness and correcting in our behavior so that ultimately we can glorify Him with our lives, but more importantly we need His company. We just need to know and believe that He is really there, that He delights over us, that He is constant. He wants to capture your heart with His love and His grace so that you can live a life of faith, joy, and peace. Will you be captured by His love today?
Prayer: “Sweet Lord, capture me by Your love today. Show me one thing I can do today to step towards you. Thank You for Your company. Thank You that I am never alone.”
