RELY ON HIM

“We know that we live in Him and He in us, because He has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.” 1 John 4:13-16

I have this quote pinned to my bulletin board: “There is such freedom in resting in God’s agenda.”

This quote stares at me each morning and sweetly reminds me to resist the urge to do my own thing. Rest and freedom are two words that our souls ache for, wouldn’t you agree? This quote doesn’t come easy though….sometimes it appears to be easier to orchestrate, analyze, and figure out. But in all of that analyzing, I am forgetting the most important thing….that I don’ have to do all that! That I can RELY on HIM! Let Him do it, let Him work out the details, let Him handle all the pieces of the puzzle, LET HIM. Therein lies the FREEDOM and the RESTING.

What is it today that you are trying to figure out? What problem or issue are you wanting to take into your own hands, in your own time frame….what are you trying to do or handle in your own strength? What if you took that to God today, and let yourself rest in His agenda, His time frame, His way, His will…..will you allow Him to work it out, to figure it out, to handle it?

He invites you to rely on Him…..

in everything…..

Because He wants you to have this freedom and this rest and this peace that only He can give. He wants peace to wash over you as you let Him into your agenda. And not only will you feel His peace, but you will feel His love…

Prayer: “Here’s my agenda today, Lord. Everything in my nature wants to handle it all, analyze it all, and do it all on my own….everything in me wants to figure it all out. But I want freedom and rest and YOU more than I want my own way. Help me rest in YOUR agenda. Help me let go, and let you in. Help me rely on You.”
