“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
How is your soul today? I know for me, on busy days, where I feel productive and set into my routine, I don’t think too much about how my soul is doing. It is almost as if the flow of daily life keeps me at the pace that never stops and so I ride those waves of productivity, and I think “all is well.” That is awesome, and I love those days! But what about the days where you feel alone in your struggles, your emotions, or just your circumstances? There are times when these types of thoughts flow through my mind,
“I feel alone in this. No one understands how hard it is to do what I do. No one understands how tired I am. (shout out to Mommies with newborns and little ones) No one gets this guilt I feel for not being able to please everyone. No one understands how swamped I feel. No one understands….”
Do you ever feel like you are alone?
I want to encourage you, dear reader, that although it feels like you are all alone in whatever you are currently going through, there is One that gets it. There is One that is ALWAYS with you. Christ invites you, when you feel alone, to crawl into His lap of grace, love, and comfort. Sometimes we do everything BUT go to God in our struggles. I tend to busy myself so that I do not have to think about how I am really feeling, or I tend to go to sleep really early, just to turn off my thoughts and escape my weariness. (that may not be completely true….I kind of like going to sleep early no matter what :) ) Anyway, my point is, is that God invites you to draw close to HIM in those moments.
“Draw nearer to God, and He will draw nearer to you.” James 4:7
WHEN we draw nearer to God, HE WILL DRAW NEARER TO US. So when you feel alone, when you feel like no one gets it, grab a journal, a pen, a highlighter, your Bible and maybe a devotional book of your choice. Find a cozy spot in your house or at a coffee shop, (Moms, I know this is easier said than done….maybe for today…it’s the laundry room while you’re folding clothes) and tell God exactly how you feel. Tell Him what is going on with your soul. And ask Him for His comfort. Get your pen out and write down anything He shows you. Expect comfort. Expect peace. Expect to not feel alone.
These times will come often because walking with God does not mean a happy, problem-free life. Walking with God means we need Him day in and day out. I think we need time with Him daily….whatever that looks like for you. And I think we need an extended time with Him weekly. So if you can make time for a retreat with God….write it on your calendar. And listen with expectancy because He will speak to Your heart.
Dear reader, you are not alone.
Prayer: “Dear Lord, You know how I am feeling today. I bring my soul’s struggles to You. When I feel this way, help me run to You, not other stuff. Help me make time with You my go-to Source for comfort when I feel alone.”

Hi Sarah,
You shared one of my favorite verses, Isa. 41:10…what a comforting truth that we are not alone even when we feel alone…and I can relate to what you are saying although I don’t have a newborn anymore…blessings :)
