“When I said, ‘My foot is slipping,’ your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.” Psalm 94:18-19
In ballet, pointe shoes are a dancer’s foundation. If the pointe shoes feel good, right, and are doing their job, the dancer can dance with freedom and confidence. Dancers work hard to make sure their pointe shoes feel right….we sow the ribbons and the elastics in just the right places. We break them in in just the right places, and it takes a few classes and rehearsals of wearing them for the shoes to feel just perfect. The last thing dancers want to worry about is their shoes falling off or hurting their feet. A dancer’s shoes have to give just the right amount of support without restricting the flexibility of their foot. Much damage can be done to the foot if the pointe shoe fits too tightly or too loose. For dancers, finding that perfect fit is essential.
I have tried many brands of pointe shoes over the years, and I finally found the ones that allow me to have peace with my feet. :) My Gaynor Mindens give me just the right amount of support I need to dance comfortably and without pain. I am beyond thankful for them because when my feet are happy, dancing is much more fun!
This makes me think about life and how God offers us a FOUNDATION for living…. His love that is so great, so deep, so wide, and so available and supports us through our entire day. We can operate out of that love. When we operate in stress, trying to manage everything in our own strength, anxious from worrying….we miss out on a freedom to enjoy life and to know deep peace.
So how do we operate out of God’s love rather than in anxiety and stress?
We simply invite Him into the details of our day. We invite Him into our plans, our ideas, and our dreams. We ask for His help in the big stuff and the little stuff. Prayer doesn’t have to be formal. We can talk to God anywhere and anytime. As we invite Him in, we will feel His love supporting us throughout the day.
When you feel your foot slipping….or your heart sinking, your mind despairing, or your thoughts going downhill….God is one simple prayer away.
Prayer: “Dear Jesus, thank You for your love that supports me through each day. May I let my life rest on the foundation of Your love instead of on my own strength. Let me operate from Your love and Your peace. Here is every worry, here is every concern. Come into the details of my day so that I can live in freedom and confidence. Thank You for loving me so deeply.”

Been having a rough time with some things and this just prompted me to pray on the topic. Life is hard. Situations and circumstances are difficult, but I can only hope and pray and trust and ask for God’s strength and courage to help me find peace and remain strong for my children. Thank you,Sarah.

I wear Gaynor Mindens too! Thank you for writing this… it is an answer to prayer. I am new on my pointe shoes and have weak ankles, I have prayed for strength and wisdom. Then I was googling dance devotionals, and I found your blog! It has been inspirational and encouraging. I appreciate how you use scripture and include a prayer at the end. God Bless you!
