“Draw nearer to God and He will draw near to You.” James 4:8
If you have been a Believer for awhile, you know that time with God is essential. If you are just starting out in your journey with Christ, you are discovering that time with God is essential. Wherever you are and whoever you are, sometimes we need a gentle reminder…
TIME WITH GOD WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
Time with God feeds your soul.
Time with God brightens your outlook on life.
Time with God teaches you who you are and Who you belong to.
Time with God gives you the strength you need for each day.
Time with God clarifies your purpose.
Time with God directs your path.
Time with God equips you for the callings He has for you.
Time with God satisfies your heart.
Time with God calms your anxious heart.
Time with God sets your heart, mind, and soul right.
Time with God completes you.
So if you’re in a rut or haven’t really figured out how to have a meaningful quiet time or how to get something out of your quiet time, I hope these little tidbits will inspire you…
1. Mix it up – Sometimes I get in a rut in my quiet times because I am tired of doing the same thing…the same reading plan, the same Bible study, or the same devotional book. Take a break from the plan. Go off the plan. Ask God what He wants you to read.
2. Let the Spirit Lead – Ask God to come into your time with Him. Ask the Spirit to lead your time with Him. Ask Him to speak right straight to your heart and He will.
3. Find a favorite spot – Make your time with God special. Grab your favorite mug of tea or coffee or whatever it is and find a spot that feels a bit sanctuary-esque. For me, it’s my back porch. For you, it could be a coffee shop, or your favorite corner on the couch. Find a spot that’s reserved for you and God.
4. Get creative – Moms with little ones…I know how hard it is to find time/space/quiet for a quiet time. Your quiet time may not be so quiet! I have definitely had lots of “quiet times” during episodes of Wildkratts and Little Einsteins. Whatever works!
5. Be flexible – Somedays your quiet time will be in the morning. Somedays it will be late at night. Somedays you will get hours…somedays you will get just a few minutes. Run in grace. Know that God sees you. Know that He’s always pursuing you. He’s always available.
6. Keep the conversation going – Talk to God in the car and talk to Him on a walk. Check in with Him whenever you can. Keep a Bible in your purse. My favorite time to talk to God is in the car…what about you?
My hope today is just that you would be re-inspired…
TIME WITH GOD WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
