“The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him”. Psalm 37:23
Sometimes (okay, ALL the time) I look back at my stash of old journals. This is my way of remembering. My heart always needs reminders that God is at work, that He has been nothing but faithful in the past, and that He’s got me. Always, He’s got me.
So I grab one off my shelf. I’ve put penned to paper for as long as I can remember, but most consistently since I started dating the man who is now my husband. He was too good to be true, so writing down my heart’s dreams for us seem to put the dream in God’s hands. I didn’t want to make a mess of this dream. God took that dream, and 18 1/2 years and three sons later, I am reminded…
God takes the seeds of our dreams and faithfully grows them to get us right where He wants us to go. We may not know the outcome of planting that seed in prayer, but He knows, and He does the growing. He guides our steps.
As I read old journals, I notice a theme. So many times over the years, I have asked God for direction…which way to go, which way to turn, whether to move forward in this opportunity or whether to let it go. It has always felt like a dance. And the more I dance with Him, the more I realize, things go so much smoother when I let Him lead.
This is what I want to hang onto today and what I want to encourage you with:
God will get us where we need to go as we plant seeds of prayer and make knowing Him our top priority.
As we spend time with Jesus, He guides us. He leads us. He shows us new things. He teaches us about His Word. He strengthens us. He directs us. We don’t have to fret that we will make a wrong turn if we keep our hearts connected to Him. He will get us where we need to go.
We will always need direction in our lives. Who we choose to get our marching orders from will determine the course of our life. Who will you look to for direction? The world? Other people? Yourself? What if you let God lead your life completely?
He will get you where you need to go. And that place, that journey, that path, is the best path for your life because your Creator knows just what you need. He delights in giving you an abundant and full life, one that takes delight in letting Him lead.
So I keep putting my dreams, desires, struggles, concerns down on paper. I keep spreading them out before God. Because I still need direction. I will always need direction. But what God has proved to me over and over and over again, is that His direction and company is where abundant life comes into full bloom.
I want to bloom. How about you?
