“I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people.” Luke 2:10
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8
For a ballet dancer, feet are everything. The way we use them, shape them, angle them, take care of them, and pamper them…it’s all so important to a dancer. I remember as a young ballerina, the first thing we would do in ballet class was to sit in a circle with our legs in a piked position, feet pointed to the center of the circle, and we would follow the teacher’s instructions: “pointe, flex, pointe flex….flex, turn-out, roll-through, turn-in…half-pointe, demi-pointe…” over and over and over and over. I probably didn’t understand what all we were doing when I was that young…now I know…we were strengthening our feet…we were shaping them…we were preparing them for beautiful dancing.
For a dancer, we have to REALLY stretch our feet…as in…REALLY pointe them from the ankle, all the way through the tips of the toe…in every position. It’s easy to “kind of” stretch our feet…it’s easy to get by with “kind of” engaging the muscles and pointing the feet…but it takes discipline to REALLY stretch the feet. As a spectator at a ballet performance…I want to see REALLY STRETCHED FEET…REALLY POINTING all the way…it’s not comfortable for a dancer…but it looks so beautiful. Stretched feet enhances a dancer’s technique so incredibly much.
This brings me to our dance of life. We can get by with “kind of” tuning into God’s voice. We can get by with “kind of” giving our life to Him, but that “kind of” mentality keeps us from REALLY experiencing Christ the way He designed us to. Christmas tells the story of our precious Savior, stepping down out of heaven, into the form of a baby, through a virgin named Mary….all for YOU. Christmas invites us to REALLY tune into this Savior…to really understand that this Christmas story that we sing about and celebrate applies directly…to YOU, dear one.
I don’t know where you are at in your walk with Jesus, but I want you to know that He is inviting you to stretch your heart, your faith, and your pre-conceived ideas about Him by drawing closer to Him…to see what all He has for you.
Sweet one, Christ has more peace for you. Christ has more joy for you. Christ has more freedom for you. Christ has more hope for you. Christ has more power for you through His Holy Spirit. Christ has more grace for you.
He is inviting you to REALLY stretch your heart this Christmas season…to REALLY tune into His voice.
Will you stretch your heart and take a step towards Him?
Prayer: “Savior, I’ve known about You, but maybe I haven’t been really experiencing all the joy, peace, freedom, hope, power, and grace You intend for me to know. Savior, help me REALLY tune into Your voice. This Christmas, may I take on the Christmas story for me personally.”
