“Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” Luke 2:19
My ballet teacher from where I grew up training as a dancer had one of the greatest analogies that has always stuck with me in my dancing. She would tell us to carry ourselves as if our neck was adorned with the most beautiful jewels…and that the jewels were even scattered across our shoulders, down our arms, and all the way to our fingertips. I don’t know where you’re sitting right now, dancer or not, but just think about that for a minute…does it make you stand a little taller, lift your chin a bit…even feel like a princess?
I just love that analogy because it invites a dancer to carry herself in such a way that she oozes with confidence, grace, and strength….and to feel different about herself…to feel special. It’s hard to remember though to activate that jewel analogy when you’re concentrating on the steps or trying to get through a difficult piece of choreography…but when a dancer does carry herself that way…it’s just breathtakingly beautiful.
We have so many jewels lavished on us as daughters of Christ. But we so easily forget all that we have in Him. So today I just want to offer out these jewels to you to remind you of all that you have in Christ so that you ooze with confidence, grace, and strength…from the inside out…
He forgives ALL your sins.
He heals ALL your diseases…all your muck, all your stuff, all your hurts.
He redeems YOUR life from the pit.
He crowns YOU with love and compassion.
He SATISFIES your desires with good things.
He renews you day in and day out. (Psalm 103)
You are chosen, adopted, lavished with grace, and dearly loved.
May all the twinkling lights of Christmas, all the glitter in the garland, and all the sparkling ornaments on the tree remind your heart that YOU are a precious jewel to God. May you wear all your jewels…wear all your benefits as a daughter of the King…plant those jewels in your heart. May knowing all that you have because of Christ light up your soul this Christmas.
Prayer: “Dear Lord, thank You for reminding me of all the jewels I have in You and that I am a jewel to You. Help me remember and think on and ponder over the jewels of being a daughter of Christ.”
