“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good…” Genesis 1:1-4a
Some water for your thirsty soul…
In the VERY first paragraph of the Bible, God wanted us to know something right off the bat…
He wanted us to know that He takes “formless and empty” and turns it into light and goodness. He did it with creation. He took a dark, formless, empty unformed world and brought it light, form, fullness, and life.
Have YOU ever just felt formless and empty? Maybe your version of formless and empty looks something like…
~ not sure who God made you to be
~ not sure what you’re supposed to do with your life
~ unfulfilled, unsatisfied…thirsty for something more
~ unsure if God will come through
Take this to heart, sweet one…
The VERY first thing God wants you to know about Him is that He takes your formless, your empty…and turns it into goodness and light. You may feel like no forming or growing or shaping is taking place in your heart. You may feel like the garden of your life is just rocky, full of weeds…formless. You may not see the beauty yet.
But hold onto this…
God sees the beauty. He sees your formless places. He sees your empty places. And He is working so hard behind the scenes on your behalf…He is fixed on fulfilling His purposes for you, set on guiding you on His beautiful path for you and determined to bring the beauty forth. He sees it, and as you let Him lead and guide your life, He will bring goodness and light busting out!
Be encouraged today, dear one, that God sees you and is at work in you, around you, and for you.
Prayer: “Lord, here’s all my formless places. Here’s all my empty spots. Give me fresh hope, fresh perspective, and fresh faith that You see me, take me, and remake me. May I step forward in faith, knowing You see the big picture.”

This was for me today, Sarah! Thank you :) I was journaling earlier about how grateful I am for sunshine in the midst of winter. His Presence is felt through Light! God bless you, sister, in this NEW year💜
