“…strengthen me according to your word.” Psalm 119:28
I believe we must always remember that there is an enemy working hard to get us down.
He’s strategically striving to pull your heart away from hope. He’s deceptively devising plans to pull your heart away from grace. And he’s cunning and crafty and knows just the thing that gets you down.
But I also believe we must always remember that we always have hope, and we always have God with us.
There is this battle going on for your sweet heart every day. And oftentimes, the battle makes you weary. It’s real. It’s frustrating. But you know what, sometimes, I think it’s a bit liberating to remember that there is a war going on for your heart because it’s a reminder that Someone is always fighting for you.
God will never stop pursuing your heart. He will never stop pulling you back into His grace and love and light. He will always steer you towards His truth. He will always come rescue you from the darkness of the world, the pull of the enemy, or even the lure of your own negative thoughts. He loves to rescue you over and over and over again.
So today, perhaps you can’t quite name the struggle. Maybe you feel stuck, discouraged, or perhaps you feel like you’ve lost a bit of that light in your beautiful eyes.
Remember, sweet one, there is a war going on for your heart every day, and the One who has redeemed you eternally loves to redeem you daily.
Here’s a simple prayer to pray when you feel that stuck-ness or discouragement creeping in….
“Lord, strengthen me according to your word.”
When we cry out to God for strength, He comes running.
When we cry out to God to sort us out, He comes running.
When we cry out to God for anything, He comes running.
“Lord, strengthen me according to your word.”
When we go to the Word of God, we find God.
When we go to the Word of God, we find His strength.
When we go to the Word of God, the light returns to our eyes.
“Lord, strengthen me according to your word.”
Sweet one, your Redeemer is your Rescuer. Let Him rescue you from anything that’s pulling you down today. Let Him strengthen your precious heart with His Word. Let His presence and company be the remedy.
“Lord, strengthen me according to your word. Take what feels stuck and move me towards hope. Take what feels hard and move me towards grace. Take what feels discouraging and remind me who you are and who I am to you – daughter of Christ. Lord, thank You for fighting for my heart every day.”
