We are about midway through 2018, and many of you are in your summer groove. With three growing boys, summer groove in the Marr household looks like Legos, Power Rangers, Hot Wheels, catching lizards, feeding lizards, watching lizards, staying cool in the pool, doggie walks, bike rides, staying up later than usual, Ranger games on in the background, along with the usual stuff: grocery store runs, meals, movies, conversations, the sillies, and weekly trips to Andy’s, our local custard drive-through. This is the good stuff of summer. I would say the overall theme of summer for my boys is to play. So we’re playing, and for me, summer is also a time to be together, to dream, and to reflect.
Today, I’m reminded, that even as a grown-up gal, it is good to play. Maybe it doesn’t look like My Little Ponies or playing school like I did when I was a little girl, but I still need to play. And these boys remind me every day, how playing is part of us and it’s something that can refresh us.
What does it look like to keep that sense of play as a grown-up gal and why is it important?
Playing is really getting lost in the things that make our hearts giddy. It’s making time to do the things that fill us up. What are those things for you?
For me, it’s things like…
Writing devos for you. :)
Getting lost in a good read.
Dreaming up book ideas.
Just hanging out with my boys.
Dinner and a movie with Brian. (this is the short list!)
It’s important for us to tap into the things that make our hearts giddy…the things that help us play! I’ve brought this up before about how these things can help us de-stress, and today, I simply want to add that they can keep us young at heart. And that is a beautiful thing!
So this summer, be sure to take some moments to be with the ones you love and the ones who love you back, to dream and imagine, to reflect on all of the good gifts and blessings God has brought into your life this year, and to just play. Play in ways that refresh you and uplift you.
Although we are grown-up gals, we will always be God’s little girls. He will always be our Daddy. Make some time to laugh, be silly, enjoy, and play.
Your Daddy has your future, your assignments, your needs, all that concerns you…He’s got it all in His hands. You go play. Dance. Dream. Reflect. Enjoy.
In all your growing up, keep that little girl heart.
“She can laugh at the days to come.” Proverbs 31:25

Good reminders, Sarah. Thank you for this.
Encourages me to have some fun today and remember He has me and my future. Enjoy those boys, too!
