“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation…who marked off its dimensions?…Who has the wisdom to count the clouds?” Job 38:4a,5a,37a
“He is the one who has saved us
He is the one who embraced us
He is the one who has come and is coming again
He’s the REMEDY” (David Crowder Band)
This word “remedy” seems to be following me around today. I first heard it in this song by David Crowder Band. Then I read it in “Jesus Calling”….”the best REMEDY is to refocus your mind and heart on Me, your constant Companion.”
I realized God is tossing this word towards me today. What is the definition of remedy?
Remedy means cure or solution.
Other words for remedy are antidote, assistance, corrective, cure-all (I love that one!), relief, restorative, support, treatment…
Where in your life do you need a remedy? I know mine! I do a good job of hiding my insecurities about my appearance. I typically feel more confident and comfortable in the ballet studio inĀ my ballet gear than I do in real, everyday life. I think it is because the ballet studio is my comfort zone and it the “thing” (good technical word, I know!) I feel knowledgeable in. I get to wear my hair up, wear my yoga pants, and pretty leotards. I feel most “me” in the ballet studio. Put me in the real world with real people, and I struggle to feel confident because I am not an expert in fashion or trends. I worry about what others think way. Too. Much. But I have gotten pretty good at hiding it. I can carry that struggle with me for awhile, but sooner or later, it catches up with me. It is so exhausting. And I can’t keep living that way.
So this is me encouraging whoever you are out there who needs to hear this this morning. I’m telling myself this too…
God wants to be the REMEDY to your insecurities. He wants to steady your heart where it feels not sure, insecure, or full of doubts. He wants to assist you in this challenge of not worrying about what others think. He wants to correct your thinking so that you can be confident in any situation. He want to be your cure-all for this issue. He wants to relieve you from this struggle. He wants to restore your heart so that you believe you are captivating to Him. He wants to support you with His capable hands. He wants to be the treatment for your struggle. You are beautiful to Him. You are captivating to Him. He needs you to believe it. How would it change your day if you only focused on how He sees you: beautiful and captivating. What if today, you leaned on Him, asked His help, and lived free from worrying about what others think? What if it freed you up to encourage a friend or a family member who you know might be feeling insecure? What if you believed it is possible to live in that freedom with the help of His Holy Spirit?
Today’s verse says, “Who has the wisdom to count the clouds.” The other day the sky was especially blue and the clouds seemed almost too perfectly fluffy and it made me think about how creative our God is. And I remember thinking that there were too many clouds to count! Then this verse came along….God can count the clouds. If He can count the clouds, He can restore you. He can do anything.
Prayer: “Jesus, be my REMEDY. Correct, cure, relieve, and restore my heart.”
