“Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? I choose to put my hope in You, God, for I will yet praise You, my Savior and my God. My soul is downcast within me; therefore I will remember You!” Psalm 42:5-6
When you are feeling down, how do you usually handle it? Who do you go to? How do you get past it? How long do you stay in a slump? What do you run to? What makes you feel better?
We run to many things in order to fill that gnawing inside of us. For dancers, maybe we run to comparing ourselves to others or maybe we think a new wardrobe of leotards will satisfy us, or maybe we just need a break from dancing to recharge and refocus. As moms, what do we run to? I know I can easily run to something to distract me, like my phone or the television. Jesus invites us to run to Him each time we feel discouraged or down. What if we looked upwards to look at Him, talk to Him, and go to Him and let Him fill our need? What if we CHOSE to put our HOPE in Christ? I think sometimes it seems easier to try anything else to satisfy us. But it is never enough, is it?
Let Him surprise You today with a pure joy that only He can give. Give Him your troubled heart and see how He would fix it. Let Him sort it out. Anytime you feel down about something……something that seems petty or something big…….try giving it to Jesus. He wants to carry each and every burden of yours. Let Him carry your load.
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. For My yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28
Prayer: “Jesus, I bring whatever is bothering me today to You. Help me run to You, nothing else, whenever I feel the slightest bit down. I praise You, my Savior and my God! Thank You for loving me so much.”
