WHO IS YOUR GOD?

I realize there may be readers out there who come across my blog that don’t know the God I know. I realize our culture embraces “religion” as broad….that maybe we all believe in our own God, and that’s okay. This devo is for you today because I want you to know that yes there are so many religions out there and many have there own higher power, BUT….there is only one saving God. There is only One who is chasing after YOUR heart. There is only One who is powerful enough to make a way for YOU to know FOR SURE that when you pass away from this life, you will not die, but live FOREVER in heaven with Him. THAT’S the God I want you to know…His name is Jesus. For me, because I have known Him from the time I was a little girl, I forget how strange it all may seem to someone who doesn’t know Him….how silly, how outrageous, how unbelievable. But I do sometimes still wonder at how it all works…how God, out of love, sent His only son down to this earth to live and then die on a cross for you and for me. That He would do that for you and for me. It is hard to comprehend. This is the Greatest Love. He is the Greatest God….

Maybe you have been searching for something that is real. Maybe you have been questioning if there even is a God. Or maybe you have not felt convinced that there is any ONE way to heaven. Maybe you have thought if you are just good enough, kind enough, and are just a good enough person, that maybe this God who may or may not be out there will somehow show a little love and let you into heaven. Maybe it just doesn’t seem that important because life has thrown you some pretty awful curve balls and maybe you just think, “how could there be a God?”

Friend, this one is for YOU. I want you to know that no matter what your life has looked like up until now, no matter what you have done, no matter where you are….God has provided a way for you to know Him, have a personal, close relationship with Him, and to top it off, to KNOW that you will spend eternity in heaven with Him. Because, I also want you to know, that there is a hell. Just as I believe there is this beautiful everlasting place called heaven, I also believe there is this horrible, everlasting place called hell. God sent His son, Jesus, to rescue YOU. He died on a cross, to pay for YOUR sins, and rose from the grave and and His Spirit is alive and at work. You may be wondering, well how do I know Him? How do I know for sure that I will go to heaven? You simply ask Him into your heart. You simply tell Him that you believe that what He did for you was true. And when you ask and invite Him in, His Holy Spirit will take up residency in your heart. His Holy Spirit is your comforter, your guide, and your counselor. From there, you can read His love letter to you…the Bible. Then it’s a growing process of getting to know Jesus and in turn He will shape you and guide you because He has an incredible plan for your life.

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father accept through me.” John 14:6
