Sometimes life can get so busy, and full, and good, and fun, and exciting…filled with our big dreams, big prayers, and big hopes…that we can forget that our biggest dream, our biggest hope, and our biggest accomplishment is standing right there next to us, cheering us along.
In all our dreaming, in all our hoping, in all our praying…we must work hard to keep our marriage first. Marriages face a battle in our world. Marriages crumble easier than we think. Marriages can slip right through our fingers if we are not aware.
I have been married to my handsome hubby for 13 years….woot! woot! We dated for 5 and a 1/2 (that 1/2 is very important) years. We both have busy lives…he has a good, busy job. I juggle good, busy roles. We work hard together in our home, raising our boys, and taking care of things.
But I never want to forget…He’s my top priority. He’s who I want to be my best for. He’s the reason I want to grow in my relationship with God…so I can love Him well. He’s my best friend. He’s my favorite human being on the planet. He loves me despite my mess ups. He loves me despite my sometimes emotional shpeels…:) He loves me no matter what.
Today I want to challenge us….will you, with me, make your husband, your greatest human priority? What would that look like for you? What does that person need from you? What might make them feel so loved? What if we put them above our needs? What if we remembered that this marriage situation…it’s such a gift, it’s such an adventure, and that there’s really nothing better.
What if we prayed for our marriages…regularly, daily…a lot! What if we secured our marriage in God’s able caring hands by letting God do in our marriages what only He can do? What if we let God in completely…letting Him make our marriage all that it was intended to be?
Marriage. It’s such a gift. It’s such a holy calling. How can we lift up our spouse today? How can we set aside a little bit of our own stuff, our own dreaming hearts, and our own agendas…to think about theirs? What if our favorite dream was to simply love him well…and to cheer him on in his life? How might a change in us affect their life?
Love you, hubby. :)
