Sometimes waiting for a dream to unfold or a prayer to be answered can feel like watching a garden grow…it can seem like nothing is happening, it can seem like it’s going to take forever, and it can seem like weeds are getting in the way of the beauty.
Sometimes it can even look like the dream, like the garden, is an impossible pursuitĀ or even like it’s completely hopeless. Sometimes we give up on it. Sometimes we overlook the growth because it’s hard to see it….sometimes we want to feel like a beautiful rose blooming in all its glory, but instead, we feel like a bud.
But like a garden, we keep watering that dream or that prayer request with prayer, with surrender, nourishing it by putting it in God’s hands over and over again, even though it feels unproductive at times.
And then one day, we come across our little garden….and it’s blooming, it’s growing, all the flowers are mounding together creating a breathtaking view…and it’s like they flourished overnight. The beauty seemed to unfold right when we thought nothing was happening.
And so wherever you are, whatever dream you are waiting on, whatever answer you are waiting for….rest assured….
There’s intricate happenings going on behind the scenes that you can’t see. There’s a Master Gardener working things out on your behalf. Even though it feels like nothing good is happening in the waiting, subtle blossoming is happening. Buds are getting ready to sprout.
So keep watering that dream or that request in prayer and surrender. Keep pulling out the weeds of doubt and worry that creep in. Keep your hope planted firmly in the Master Gardener who is diligently gardening this dream or request for you.
I know you can’t see it, but God sees the end result.
I know it doesn’t feel like it’s going to work out, but God can see how He’s going to work it out.
He’s got you.
He’s got this.
Keep watering the dream in prayer and surrender.

Again, thank you so much for writing, Sarah!! I am reading a book that is about to be released called “Waiting on God: What to Do When God does Nothing” by Wayne Stiles. To see your post today was so God and very timely! Thanks for the encouragement and reminder that waiting is not passive – God is at work while we wait. Blessings always <3
